Crypto Council for Innovation Expands Staking Advocacy with Key Partnerships

Teaming Up with Proof of Stake Alliance to Educate Policymakers Worldwide

CCI Deepens Staking Advocacy with Global Outreach

The Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI) is stepping up its advocacy for staking, forming new partnerships to educate policymakers on staking’s vital role in blockchain security and decentralization. CCI announced plans to work with the Proof of Stake Alliance (POSA), a member organization focused on supporting policies for proof-of-stake (PoS) innovation, and to expand these efforts worldwide.

Proof of Stake Alliance: Championing Global Staking Policy

With staking’s market cap soaring from $19 million in 2019 to over $500 billion today, POSA executive director Alison Mangiero emphasized the importance of legal and policy frameworks that support staking. "As the staking ecosystem has grown so rapidly, it’s clear we need a global approach to policy," Mangiero stated, adding that POSA will produce new policy papers and continue engaging regulators on complex concepts like restaking.

Tackling U.S. Staking Regulations

In the U.S., regulatory agencies like the SEC have been closely scrutinizing staking, leading to enforcement actions against major firms such as Kraken, ConsenSys, and Coinbase. Meanwhile, legislators like Reps. Wiley Nickel (D-N.C.) and Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) introduced a bill in May seeking to tax staking rewards only at the point of sale, aiming to avoid double taxation on these rewards. POSA and CCI’s advocacy could support ongoing efforts to clarify staking’s legal and tax landscape.

Collaboration with Global Digital Finance and Expanded Global Reach

CCI’s new partnerships include an alliance with Global Digital Finance, a nonprofit dedicated to digital assets. This collaboration will focus on issues such as staking while generating key policy papers and consultation responses for global regulators. Expanding beyond the U.S., CCI aims to foster responsible crypto asset usage and build a more inclusive global financial system.

Africa’s Growing Role in Crypto Policy

In a step toward amplifying Africa’s voice in the global crypto arena, CCI also announced that Yele Bademosi, founder of crypto payments app Bundle, will join as an advisor. Bademosi will work to connect African crypto innovators with policymakers, helping ensure that Africa’s burgeoning digital asset landscape is included in international policy discussions.

Conclusion

As the staking ecosystem rapidly evolves, CCI’s partnerships with POSA and Global Digital Finance underscore its commitment to advancing responsible staking policies worldwide. From engaging U.S. lawmakers to connecting Africa’s crypto innovators with global policymakers, CCI’s latest efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to fostering a balanced, inclusive digital asset ecosystem. With the support of key industry players, CCI and POSA are poised to shape the future of staking on a global scale.
