Binance has announced opBNB
Binance and Optimism are partnering up for a new high performance L2 on Ethereum!
@binance just made a groundbreaking announcement
The new Layer 2 chain is built on@optimismFND and is referred to as opBNB
Will these two behemoths partnering together dominate the L2 landscape?
Let's find out!
Binance was teasing us with a new Layer 2 solution for BSC
The opBNB was released as the new Layer 2 to embrace the Binance ecosystem and I have gathered everything you need to know
opBNB is set to be a game-changer that promises to revolutionize how we handle large-scale Web3 applications like:
1. Games
2. Social networks
3. High-frequency trading
The main issue that opBNB is aiming to solve the problem of handling high transaction volumes and intensive daily active users of large dapps.
This is something that current Layer 1 chains like their own @BNBCHAIN, or Ethereum and Polygon is still struggling with.
So @binance looked to @optimismFND for help using the Optimism stack!
That help is to offer over 4,000 TPS & average gas fees under $0.005 for transfer transactions! We can now handle more transactions, faster, and at a lower cost compared to L1s.
Goodbye congestion!
Besides throughout, the focus is BNB Smart Chain compatibility.
opBNB has been designed to align with the BNB Smart Chain parameters.
This includes a block time set to match BSCs, meaning faster transaction processing compared to other L2 solutions!
When it comes to security around the sequencers, provers, and verifiers, the security state of transitions and transactions is insured. opBNB still benefits from BSC's consensus and data availability solutions, getting robust security from the get go.
Beyond security, flexibility and interoperability are crucial! Thanks to the opStack, opBNB is not tied to a single client implementation, and it can interoperate with other L2 platforms. This makes for an open and collaborative ecosystem
opBNB allows the switching of various Data Availability schemes based on security and performance needs.
They are currently creating a platform that's adaptable to changing requirements, to stay truly future-proof
